On a leased machine, the 90 hours could have been very hard hours. It would be worth $500 to me just to get rid of the hours, and I’d get a new one unless the deal was a lot better.

I'm guessing that rental rather than leased may be a better description of the tractor. Ninety hours on a 2002 machine and $500 off list price doesn't sound like a lease deal. Seems like a better chance the dealer ran a rent toward purchase deal for a month, the tractor came back and $500 was the monthly rent. The renter probably used the tractor hard for 90-hours in a short time. I'd keep in mind that many compact tractor owners put about 90 leisurely hours a year on their tractors. So, I wouldn’t likely give an almost new price for a year old tractor—even one that had been pampered.
